How We Use Your Information

We use the information we hold about you to:

  • Provide the information, products or services you request from us.
  • Carry out our obligations under any contract between you and us.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Send you marketing about our products and services, where you have asked for it or where we are otherwise permitted to do so. You can opt out at any time.

  • Improve our site, our products and our marketing.
  • Administer our site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing and statistical purposes.
  • Keep our site and our business secure, and detect and prevent fraud and misuse.
  • Comply with our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations, and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We will not use your personal information for a materially different purpose without telling you first.

Our Lawful Bases for Using Your Information

We are a UK company, so UK data protection law applies to how we handle personal information wherever you live. That law requires us to have a lawful basis for everything we do with your information. Ours are:

  • Legitimate interests. Most of what we do rests on this: responding to your inquiry, understanding who is interested in our products, marketing to business contacts, keeping our site secure, and improving how it works. We have considered whether these uses could override your rights and we do not believe they do, because we handle business contact details rather than information about your private life, and we do not use them in ways you would find intrusive. You can object at any time.
  • Performance of a contract. Where we need your information to enter into or carry out a contract with you or your business.
  • Legal obligation. Where the law requires us to keep or disclose information, for example for tax and accounting purposes.
  • Consent. Where we ask for it, for example for some marketing messages. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and doing so does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our site uses cookies and similar technologies to distinguish you from other users, to keep the site working properly, and to help us understand how the site is used. For detail on the cookies we use, why we use them, and how to control them, see our Cookie Policy.

How We Share Your Information

We share personal information with the following categories of recipient:

  • Service providers who help us run our business, including website hosting, IT support and security, analytics, email delivery, and customer relationship management. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
  • Professional advisers, including lawyers, auditors, bankers and insurers.
  • Authorities, regulators and law enforcement, where we are required to do so by law or where we need to protect our rights, our users or the public.
  • Third parties who bring or threaten a legal claim connected to something you sent us, where we are required to respond by law or a court order, or where we reasonably need to in order to defend ourselves.
  • A buyer or successor, if we sell, transfer or reorganize any part of our business. We will tell you if your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We only allow our service providers to use your personal information for the purposes we engaged them for, and we ask them to keep it secure and to comply with applicable privacy law.

We Do Not Sell or Share Your Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we have not sold personal information in the preceding twelve months. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not run advertising or remarketing tags on our site.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16, which is the threshold that applies under California law.

“Sell” and “share” here have the meanings given to them by the California Consumer Privacy Act and equivalent US state privacy laws.

Where We Store Your Information

We are based in the United Kingdom. Our site, and the information you send us through it, are hosted in the United Kingdom.

Some of our service providers process information outside the United Kingdom. Google Analytics, for example, is provided by Google LLC in the United States. Where personal information is transferred outside the United Kingdom, we rely on the safeguards recognized under UK data protection law, such as a finding of adequacy or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Privacy laws in other countries may differ from the laws where you live. Wherever your information goes, we take steps to make sure it stays protected in line with this policy.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes we collected it for, including to satisfy legal, accounting, tax or reporting requirements, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

How long that is depends on the type of information, why we hold it, how sensitive it is, and whether any legal requirement applies. Records connected to a contract are generally kept longer than a one-off inquiry, because tax and accounting rules require it.

When we no longer need your information, we delete it or make it anonymous so it can no longer be linked to you.

If you would like to know how long we keep a particular type of information, contact us using the details below and we will tell you.

Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. Our site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, so anything you send us through a form on our site is encrypted while it travels to us.

We limit access to your personal information to those people who need it to do their job, and we keep that access under review.

No method of transmission over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach happens, we will notify you and any applicable regulator where we are legally required to do so.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights set out below in relation to your personal information.

The Rights You May Have

  • Right to know. You can ask us to confirm whether we process your personal information, and to tell you the categories we collect, the sources we collect them from, our purposes, the categories of third party we disclose them to, and the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
  • Right of access. You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, in a portable format where required by law.
  • Right to correct. You can ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Right to delete. You can ask us to delete your personal information. Some exceptions apply, for example where we need to keep information to complete a transaction, comply with a legal obligation or defend a legal claim.
  • Right to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing for you to opt out of. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and provide a clear opt-out mechanism.
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect or use sensitive personal information in a way that triggers this right.
  • Right to object to automated decision-making. We do not make decisions about you by automated means that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
  • Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide you with a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.
  • Right to appeal. If we refuse your request, you can ask us to reconsider. We will respond to your appeal in writing, within the timeframe required by the law that applies to you, and explain our reasons.
  • Right to opt out of marketing. You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time using the link in any message, or by contacting us.

Additional Rights if You Are in the UK or the EU

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you have these further rights alongside those above:

  • Object to processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests. If you object to direct marketing, we will stop.
  • Ask us to restrict how we use your information while a question about its accuracy, or about our legitimate interests, is resolved.
  • Receive the information you gave us in a portable, machine-readable format, where we process it by automated means on the basis of consent or a contract.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.

We will respond to requests made under UK or EU law within one month. We may extend that by a further two months for complex requests, and we will tell you if we need to.

How to Make a Request

To exercise any of these rights, email us at us.sales@zedonk.co.uk, call us on +1 (929) 339-1090, or write to us at the postal address above. Please tell us which right you want to exercise and give us enough information to find your records.

We will verify your identity before we act on your request, usually by matching the information you give us against our records, or by contacting you at an email address or phone number we already hold. For requests to delete, or for specific pieces of personal information, we may ask for additional proof of identity.

We will acknowledge your request promptly and respond within 45 days, or within one month where UK or EU law applies. If we need more time, we will tell you why.

You can use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will ask for written proof that you authorized them, and we may still ask you to verify your own identity directly with us.

Making a request is free. If a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may charge a reasonable fee or decline to act, and we will explain why.

Complaints

If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal information or your request, please contact us first so we can try to put it right.

If you are in the United States, you may also have the right to complain to the attorney general of the state in which you live. If you are in California, you can also complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency at cppa.ca.gov. The Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov handles some privacy complaints at federal level. There is no single federal privacy regulator in the United States, and most state privacy laws are enforced by state attorneys general.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in your own country.

Children’s Privacy

Our site and our products are aimed at businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and our site is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Third Party Links

Our site may include links to third party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on those links may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control those websites and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes we make will be posted on this page, and the last updated date at the top will tell you when. Where the changes are significant, we will make that clear on our site or contact you directly. Please check back from time to time.
